Lucky Express consistently has the best Chinese food in Bloomington. You really can't go wrong, everything on the menu is good which already sets it apart from a lot of other places here. I think certain dishes at other restaurants can stand up to this place, but the consistency and customer service alone put this restaurant in another league. Feel free to be adventurous on this menu because once again, you really can't go wrong.
My wife and I love this place. It isn't fancy but the food is really good. It is cash-only so keep that in mind if you go here. It is our go-to place when it comes to Chinese food in Bloomington. My favorite dish is the pork with house garlic sauce. Wife and I just got a to-go order and are sitting outside enjoying one of the last warm days of the year and we thought we should let others know about this place.
My fiancee and I ordered from here, I got honey chicken, he got satay chicken and pork dumplings...AMAZING FOOD!!! Top notch flavor all around the board!!! The lady that runs the front of the house is ALWAYS so kind and generous, but today she went above and beyond!!! She included free spring rolls into our order! It definitely made a bit of a bad day 10x better!!! We love this lady and this restaurant so much!!! We 10/10 recommend this restaurant! Especially if top of the line service and life changing food is high on your list of priorities!!!
Very good Chinese food and friendly staff; cash only. Salt & pepper shrimp w head & shell on is a go-to.
Love it. Shichuan style- spice food. Taste better and cheaper than LA. We will be back when we are in Bloomington.
I ordered delivery from here and at first I thought it was a bit pricy, but once I saw the huge portion sizes it totally made sense. The food itself was amazing. The green beans tasted so fresh and still had a bit of crunch too them, and were so flavorful with the garlic. The tofu was also really great. The sauce was the perfect level of salty, sweet, and umami, and the portion was huge, I was able to eat it for dinner again the next day after frying it up with some rice. I'm so sad I didn't get to eat here again before I left Bloomington, would totally end up frequenting this place.
This place used to be a frequent haunt when I lived in Bloomington. Always teeming with students and a very stern lady used to run it 13 years ago, not anymore though. On our way back from Spring Mill Park, we decided to keep our hunger at bay till we reached Lucky Express. Things seemed almost the same and food definitely good as before. We were hungry and nostalgic and wanted our kids to experience the food we had raved about, so we ordered too much ! Pork Dumplings that my son absolutely loved and wouldnt share. Veggie lo mein that was quite good and shared amongst us. Chilli chicken and Kung pao chicken - each bite flavorful and packs a punch! We got a lot of leftovers to enjoy later and wish we had more. If you live in Bloomington, you already know about this place but if you dont live there, please do visit this hole in wall gem.
Hole in the wall, fresh Chinese food. Tried the standards and they were good. Sesame chicken was really sweet but nice and crispy. Egg rolls were particularly flavorful and the dumplings were very tender. Can't wait to try some of the more authentic entrees next trip down to Bloomington.
